The Carpenters Table

Where to begin, the thoughts I have when seeing a piece like this are endless. It makes me think of the work I have done, other work I have seen over the years. What I love to do most is see the imperfections in these tables, what caused them? Let the story unfold.

Through time this bench has been beaten, chipped, scarred and morphed into this - a beautiful piece of history. An essential tool for all craftsman his workbench must be able to weather the storm.

Picture with me it is the late 1800's and a gentleman in his early 50's, a small village in Europe making a wage for his family. Ball Pein Hammer forming steel, pounding nails into wood. Hand cutting wood to get the correct shapes to then clamp and with the hand of Thor hammering nails into the wood crafting furniture, pieces to fix structures or building a toy for his children.

The stories this bench could tell from generation to generation I am sure would be more than intriguing to sit down and give an ear too. As we get closing we see the weathered grain of the wood, all of its scratches and perfectly marred imperfections.

Now we travel to today, this tables life is not over yet over 100 years later. It made it across the ocean to California, still strong - still sturdy - Masterfully One Of A Kind. As we wrap this read up, it saddens me to say that these pieces of history are becoming fewer and fewer. If you happen to be lucky enough to find one, grab it while you can to cherish and enjoy.

Three available now in my Shop 11/29/21. As I previously mentioned they last forever, but their availability does not. Give it a look:
